How to attach the adapter assembly hose to the syringe barrel
Last Updated: 03/10/2013
What is an adapter assembly?

An adapter assembly provides an air connection between the pneumatic dispenser and the syringe barrel. The adapter assembly comprises of a 3ft or 6ft long length of clear flexible PU air hose pre-assembled to a moulded plastic head at one end and a quick connect fitting the other. The head uses a rubber o-ring to seal the connection with the syringe barrel which prevents an air leak under pressure. The quick connect fitting is used to attach to the dispenser and is a standard type.

How does the adapter assembly work?

Select the correct size adapter to suit the syringe barrel. Standard adapters are available in sizes 3cc, 5cc, 10cc, 30cc and 55cc. All are one-piece bayonet type fittings where they are pushed into the top of the syringe barrel and twisted on. The barrel flanges will lock into place providing a tight connection. The same adapter is used for 30cc and 55cc barrels as they have the same diameters. If the barrel is excessively tight, lightly dampen the o-ring before inserting into barrel. To connect the adapter to the dispenser, locate the plastic male quick connect fitting to the dispenser air outlet, push into and turn clockwise to lock in place.

Adapter assemblies are safe for use to 100 psi air pressure. The following part codes confirm the sizes and options: -

- 3cc adapter assembly with 3ft long air hose - part code 70303RHB
- 3cc adapter assembly with 6ft long air hose - part code 70306RHB
- 5cc adapter assembly with 3ft long air hose - part code 70503RHB
- 5cc adapter assembly with 6ft long air hose - part code 70506RHB
- 10cc adapter assembly with 3ft long air hose - part code 71003RHB
- 10cc adapter assembly with 6ft long air hose - part code 71006RHB
- 30/55cc adapter assembly with 3ft long air hose - part code 73003RHB
- 30/55cc adapter assembly with 36t long air hose - part code 73006RHB

Troubleshooting

1. Adapter leaks air at the syringe barrel.

- O-ring is worn, replace with new.
- O-ring is contaminated, replace with new.
- Incorrect barrel to adapter size. Check the options. Use ADL barrels with ADL adapters.
- Check pressure does not exceed 100 psi.

2. Adapter does not connect to my dispenser.

- Adapters use a male quick connect fitting. Most dispensers use this connection. Contact us if your dispenser has a different fitting.
- Tubing can be cut and any fitting used which is compatible with other dispensers.

3. Air flow is slow or restricted to the syringe barrel.

- Check the hose is not blocked or crushed. Replacement tubing is available.
- Check the adapter head is not blocked with adhesive. Replacement tubing is available.

4. Hose is not long enough for our application.

- Contact us for pricing on replacement hose lengths or custom made adapters to suit.

5. Can we run multiple and adapters barrels from a single dispenser?

- Yes. Use our air manifolds allowing multiple adapters to be connected to a single dispenser. Search "manifold" on this site or contact us for pricing.

All products supplied are industrial grade and silicone-free. Adapters are always available direct from stock.
