What is a Dispensing Tip? A dispensing tip is a fine metal or plastic component often used with precision dispensing systems to make consistent deposits of liquids, gels and pastes used in product assembly processes. Dispensing tips, also called dispense tips, blunt-end tips, dispense needles or dispensing nozzles, most commonly attach to the luer lock outlet of a syringe barrel reservoir (see Figure 1). Note: dispensing tips are also used with automated dispensing robots or valve systems such as manual or pneumatic dispensing valves.  Figure 1. Dispensing tips screw onto the luer lock outlets of syringe barrels or dispensing valves to dispense exact deposits of assembly fluids General-purpose dispensing tips consist of a moulded plastic colour coded luer lock hub that is attached to a stainless steel blunt-end cannula tube in a vast range of diameter sizes to produce the required fluid deposit (see Figure 2). As the name suggests, General-purpose tips are a versatile starting point for most production applications. However, some fluids have certain properties that can reduce dispensing performance and so alternative tips might often be recommended. Fluids to consider a different tip style include: - Ultra Thin fluids - Very Thick pastes - Cyanoacrylate Instant Glues If your assembly process uses one of these types of fluids, you might need to use a more specific alternative dispensing tip designed to address the issues that fluid presents.
